National Gallery Singapore preview night

Last Friday, Kh and I were invited to the preview night of National Gallery Singapore (thanks Fyerool!). If you haven't heard already, National Gallery Singapore is a new visual arts institution located right at the Civic District, two monumental buildings - the City Hall and the former Supreme Court at Saint Andrew's Road. The gallery has two permanent exhibitions and modern art collection from Singapore and Southeast Asia in the 19th and 20th centuries. You'd see comprehensive representation of art works from Singaporean artists and also significant art works by prominent Southeast Asian artists, to name a few such as Raden Saleh, Heri Dono, Montien Boonma and Latiff Mohidin.

For obvious reasons, we couldn't take photos while we were there, but here's a sneak peek of the interior (photos taken from National Gallery Singapore official website):

One thing I could say after touring around the gallery: it was surreal. Either it's the 64,000 square metres space of artworks and high ceilings or it reminded me of being in The National Gallery, London - well maybe not as crazy overwhelmed, but close to it. In any case, for those of you in Singapore or going to visit Singapore between 24 November - 6 December, you are lucky because you will enjoy free entry as part of its opening celebrations! Woop!
