The Toymaker Workshop is an ongoing research on the significance of play on childhood development. I realized how important it is to be conscious about our environment and making playthings with our own hands is one way to reuse and repurpose natural materials found in the area. The recycling process encourages a more sustainable alternative way of learning and also it allow children to be active problem solver through play. The most memorable Toymaker Workshops were at PLAYEUM The Children’s Centre for Creativity (Singapore) in 2015, 森うみアス Post-Tsunami Children Centre (Japan) in 2016, and I hope to keep encouraging children elsewhere to play through these toymaking workshops.
